Shaping - Contraindications
Even though studies have proven the treatment safe, cavitation is not be used for those with the following conditions:
- metallic prosthesis
- acute inflammatory processes
- acute illness (e.g. cold, flu, stomach bug)
- liver or pancreatic conditions (e.g. hepatitis, raised liver enzymes, fatty liver)
- severe bleeding tendencies, coagulation disorders
- using anticoagulants (e.g. Warfarin) or platelet inhibitors
- Pacemaker
- pregnant or breast feeding
- epilepsy
- tumors
- cancer (previously diagnosed or current treatment for cancer)
- Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 30 (clinically classified as obese)
- heart disease
- high cholesterol
- HIV positive
- exposure to organophosphates, herbicides or pesticides
- diabetes
- past allergy or reaction to ultrasound gel
The following conditions will restrict the treatment area in order to avoid:
- cutaneous lesions
- proximity to organs and bone marrow
- body areas with tattoos or significant moles present
- scarring, hernias or skin disorders in the area to be treated
The treatment is not suitable:
- in areas with less than 1cm of fatty tissue beyond the selected treatment depth
- in areas previously treated with injection lipolysis, liposuction, abdominoplasty or other surgery (including laparoscopic)
- where hernia, implanted material, sensory loss or dysesthesia (an abnormal sensation to touch) is present
