Shaping - Cavitation FAQ
What does it feel like?
Ultrasound cavitation is essentially a painless procedure. However, during treatment you may experience feelings of cold, prickling, tingling, warmth/heat, or discomfort. During the treatment you may hear a harmless, but high pitched sound from the ultrasound.
What will I look like right after the treatment
The appearance of erythema (reddening of the skin) can be expected during and following the ultrasound and RF portion of the treatment. However, this will quickly abate during the massage portion and you will be very relaxed.
What is the healing time?
You can return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment.
How long does it take?
A typical treatment area involves 30-60 minutes with the ultrasound/RF probe and about 45-60 minutes following that for the lymphatic massage. Most clients prefer to substitute a very relaxing, but more effective traditional massage (incorporating lymphatic stimulation). Slight additional time will be required for preparation.
How long does it last?
The results are seen gradually over the first sequence of treatments and may take several months for the maximum effects to be seen. This is because your body continues to process and naturally remove the released fat. Results achieved with this procedure can be permanent as long as a sensible diet and exercise is maintained to avoid future weight gain.
How many treatments will I need?
Treatment frequency is weekly with anywhere from 5 to 10 sessions.
When do I see results?
You may see and feel immediate results but the best results are achieved after 5-10 treatments. One session will not offer you long-term results.
After the first treatment, the skin feels tighter and more lifted, the cellulite "bumps" and fatty areas are softer, and girth reduction will be experienced around the thigh, buttocks or stomach. There will be a significant increase in circulation and the skin will feel healthy and invigorated. You will generally start experiencing the first long-term results in 2-3 sessions, due to the cumulative effect of the treatment. After 4-6 sessions the results are usually clear to see (except the worst cases) and long-lasting - if you follow a healthy lifestyle and do not put on weight or become sedentary again.
The results vary with different tissue structure, treatment area, age, metabolism, medication, and changes in hormones.
Because this treatment stimulates the skin to produce more collagen, you will continue to have improvement for the next 6 months.
What are the side effects?
There is a slight possibility of mild side effects immediately after the treatment. They are generally resolved by drinking water.
The most common, but still rare, post-treatment side effects include temporary erythema (redness), mild bruising, discomfort, nausea and edema (swelling). Tenderness and hematomas (collections of blood under the skin) have been reported. These are all short-term effects that disappear in few hours to a few days.
The temporary appearance of small depressions, especially during the first few treatments, is possible. After treatment it is normal to have urination stimulus, however the lack of such stimulus is not usual.
